Om sommeren spiser de friskt gress ute p\u00e5 engen og om vinteren f\u00e5r de t\u00f8rket h\u00f8y. Kyrne f\u00e5r ikke noe annet \u00e5 spise. Mange av g\u00e5rdeierne er ute og samler gress til vinteren samtidig som de steller kyrne om sommeren.<\/p>\n<blockquote><p><strong>&#8220;Det er ikke helt sm\u00e5 mengder gress man trenger, for hver ku spiser omtrent 70 kg gress om dagen og drikker 50-100 liter vann&#8221;<\/strong>, forteller <b>Alexandre Murith<\/b>, som driver med produksjon av Le Gruy\u00e8re AOP Alpage-ost. De har 29 kyr i alpefj\u00f8set sitt.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>Til gjengjeld gir et dyr 20-25 liter melk om dagen. Fjellkyrne gir litt mindre melk enn deres s\u00f8stre nede i dalene, for de beveger seg mer, og det har innvirkning p\u00e5 melkeproduksjonen. Man trenger 10 liter melk til ett kilo ost, og dette kan man se i prisene p\u00e5 osten. Sammenlignet med det europeiske niv\u00e5et f\u00e5r produsentene godt betalt for r\u00e5 melk, for melk i h\u00f8y kvalitet er delikatesseostens viktigste hj\u00f8rnestein.[\/et_pb_text][\/et_pb_column][\/et_pb_row][et_pb_row column_structure=&#8221;1_3,2_3&#8243; _builder_version=&#8221;4.4.5&#8243; width=&#8221;100%&#8221; global_colors_info=&#8221;{}&#8221;][et_pb_column type=&#8221;1_3&#8243; _builder_version=&#8221;4.4.5&#8243; global_colors_info=&#8221;{}&#8221;][et_pb_text _builder_version=&#8221;4.10.5&#8243; text_font=&#8221;||||||||&#8221; text_line_height=&#8221;1.5em&#8221; hover_enabled=&#8221;0&#8243; text_font_size_tablet=&#8221;&#8221; text_font_size_phone=&#8221;&#8221; text_font_size_last_edited=&#8221;on|desktop&#8221; global_colors_info=&#8221;{}&#8221; sticky_enabled=&#8221;0&#8243;]Hver melkeprodusent leverer det dyrebare produktet sitt to ganger om dagen, om morgenen og kvelden, til en osteprodusent som ligger ikke mer enn to kilometer unna. <\/p>\n<p>En av de eldste lokale melkeprodusentene er 90 \u00e5r gamle <b>Gilbert Janin<\/b>, som har kommet til Fromagerie de M\u00e9zi\u00e8res-ysteriet med traktoren sin. P\u00e5 lasteplanet har han fire av de tradisjonelle melkespannene p\u00e5 50 l. <\/p>\n<blockquote><p><strong>&#8220;Det er fint \u00e5 sl\u00e5 av en prat utenfor ysteriet mens man venter p\u00e5 turen sin til melkepumpa.
